How'd We Do?

I thought it would be fun to go back over our summer line up list and see what actually got done...

1.       Have a campout in the backyard NOPE

2.       Go to the Zoo YES

3.       Go to the Aquarium YES

4.       Have a lemonade stand TWICE ... the kids earned about $25

5.       Hand write a letter to a loved one NOPE

6.       Do a craft YES

7.       Sew something new (tote bag for library or the pool) YES

8.       Go on a hike JON and I DID IN HAWAII

9.       Run a race DID A 5K RUN FOR OUR WARD'S FOURTH OF JULY PARTY

10.   Go swimming A LOT YES, YES, YES

11.   Go to the dollar movie as a family NOPE

12.   Write a story or a play and act it out NOPE

13.   Do a 500 piece puzzle NOPE, SAVING THIS FOR A WINTER DAY!

14.   Go to the ceramic store and paint something IT WENT OUT OF BUSINESS :(

15.   Go fishing NOPE DUE TO THE FIRE BAN ACROSS THE STATE

16.   Host a kickball game with friends NOPE

17.   Science experiment (build a volcano) NOPE

18.   Have a checkers game competition NOPE

19.   Make paper airplanes and have a flying contest SORT OF

20.   Go to Tingley Beach and have a picnic NOPE

21.   Ride the Zoo train from park to park YES

22.   Launch a water rocket NOPE

23.   Make homemade Popsicle YES

24.   Go to Lowe’s or Michael’s and do a Saturday project/craft NOPE

25.   Create a personal collage to describe yourself using old magazines NOPE

26.   Make jam NOPE

27.   Run relays at the high school track NOPE

28.   Make the ocean in a water bottle NOPE

29.   Sidewalk chalk…draw art or hopscotch NOPE

30.   Paint or tie die a T-shirt for the 4^th of July MADE FLIP FLOPS INSTEAD

31.   Build/buy and paint a bird house and feed the birds during the summer YES!!  THE KIDS LOVED WATCHING THE BIRDS COME EAT!

32.   Make hummingbird juice twice a week for the feeder HAPPENED TWICE...

33.   Have LOTS of marshmallow roasts in the backyard fire pit DUE TO THE FIRE BAN, NO MARSHMALLOW ROASTS AT ALL THIS SUMMER  :(

34.   Drive out to the mesa and watch a lightning storm STILL HAVE HAD ALMOST  NO RAIN OR STORMS

35.   Make a fruit pizza NOPE

36.   Read a book with the kids NOPE

37.   Overnight campout as a family NO CAMPING DUE TO THE FIRE BAN

38.   Fly a kite NOPE

39.   Meet dad for lunch one day NOPE

40.   Make hobo dinners and cook them on the grill NOPE

41.   Do a day camping trip to a new outdoor location NOPE, DUE TO THE FIRE BAN...IT SURE RUINED A LOT OF ACTIVITIES THIS SUMMER... :(

42.   Make waffle bowls for ice cream YES


Things to add to the list for the summer...


1.  Had my brother come stay with us for a month.  He had tons of read-a-thons with the girls.
2.  Made a trip to Utah and took a friend with us.
3.  Went to Uncle Dean's cabin while in Utah
4.  Jon and I went to Hawaii for 10 days.
5.  My sister Cozy came and stayed for three weeks!
6.  Made lots of goodies and junk food to eat.

I guess I had high hope of being a 'cool' mom by having this huge list, but even though we didn't
do half of it, we still had a great summer.  Lots of good memories and good times.
