We had our annual Primary activity this past weekend. Instead of the traditional 'Meet the Teacher', we decided to do one based on the theme for this coming year, "I know the Scriptures are true." So I did some searching online and found this really fun activity called 'Journey through the Scriptures.' We divided the kids into four groups. We had asked four of our teachers to help us present a character from each of the four books of scripture. We had Joseph Smith (Doctrine and Covenants), Samuel the Lamanite (Book of Mormon), Mary Magdalene (New Testament) and Joseph and the coat of many colors (Old Testament). They all played the part of their character and shared important details about their lives and which book of scriptures they could be found in. We then had an activity that had something to do with each character.
For Joseph Smith the kids played stick pull. For Mary Magdalene the kids had a race to see who get put up a row of dominoes and then send them tumbling down the fastest as if to tell the Disciples that Jesus had risen. For Joseph and the coat of many colors, the kids tried to complete a maze (on paper) to find him. For Samuel the Lamanite, I had made a paper Samuel and glued him inside a big plastic jug. Then the kids got to throw bean bags at him. Because he was 'protected' by the Lord, he could not be hit! We had a really hard time filling the position of Samuel the Lamanite, so Jon was very kind to help us out. He did and AMAZING job!! Honestly, all the leaders that took part in this journey through the scriptures did a fantastic job. I was so happy with the turnout of kids as well as the spirit that could be felt.

The little bit that I saw seemed really neat, and my girls enjoyed it. It is hard to do something like that for our big Primary so way to go, and thanks for heading it up.
