Independence Day

The 4th of July reminds us of all the freedoms we enjoy. I am very grateful to all those who have and are currently serving are country to protect those freedom's. We started our celebration by going to our Ward's breakfast. Outings like these have become a bit more of a challenge for our family. We no longer can just get up and go. There is a lot more preparation involved. I have to find out what is being served, and then try to come up with something comparable that is safe for my kids to eat, but have it be similar so that the girls feel like they are just like everyone else. There are a few other kids and families in the Ward with similar dietary needs. It was fun to be able to provide a service to them by making pancakes that all of our children could eat. All in all we had a great time.

Now it was time for the anticipated Primary Parade! After a week of crafting shoes, shirts and decorating bikes, the kids were ready to ride. Sydney decided that when she saw one of the kids driving a Ford Mustang, that looked cooler than riding a bike with training wheels. She had a grin from ear to ear as they raced around the parking lot! Braden enjoyed being pulled around in his red wagon. Our friends and neighbors, the Baca's, joined us for the festivities.

After the Ward breakfast, we headed to the park for a picnic with friends. There was so much good food...brauts, hotdogs, burgers, yummy salads, fruit, chips and the best homemade popcycles! The kids had a ball playing in the sand....for 6 hours. Around 9pm, we cleaned up and headed home for a little neighborhood display of fireworks.

To end the holiday weekend, Jon took the girls to a nearby fishing pond to go fishing. The people next to us were catching catfish left and right while the girls were only catching moss. So Jon changed their hooks to a very small one so the girls could catch some baby blue gills. They thought that was so much fun! Braden stayed by me and ate dirt and drank Capri Suns.
